As I sit here, working on the last part of the third book of the Sinister series, “DOMINION: Darkness Ascendant,” I’m reminded of the incredible journey we’ve been on together.
Thank you for your heartfelt messages about the SINISTER audiobook editions. I’ve been receiving so many that I’m taking some time out to give you all an update.
The Current Situation
As many of you are aware, producing audiobooks is a meticulous process that demands a lot of attention to detail. In my previous post, I shared the challenges we faced in finding the right production house that aligns with our vision and quality standards. I’m pleased to announce that we have now found such a studio. A couple, in fact, so we’ll see how we get on.
Addressing the Wait
Some of you have been urging the release of book 2 of the Sinister series – Malefic – as soon as possible. I would love to make you happy.
However, with the above in mind, one of the most frequent pieces of feedback I’ve received is the anticipation and, sometimes, frustration of waiting for the next installment in a series. I completely understand this sentiment. After all, who likes to be left on a cliffhanger?
Given this feedback and the upcoming release of “DOMINION: Darkness Ascendant” this autumn, we’ve made a strategic decision. Instead of releasing the audiobook for the second installment (Malefic) now and then having another waiting period for the third, we’ve decided to record the two books back-to-back. This means that while there will be a wait, it will be a one-time wait, with both books expected to be available in audiobook format by the end of the year or early 2024.
A Difficult Decision for a Better Outcome
I recognize that this decision might be disappointing for some, especially those eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the series. However, our aim is to provide a seamless and immersive listening experience. By releasing the two books in quick succession, we hope to offer continuity and reduce the anticipation between installments.
I know some of you have returned to reading the books rather than listening to them. While I hope my works reignite the joy of reading for some, I also understand the unique experience audiobooks offer. For those who choose to wait, I promise the outcome will be worth it.

In Conclusion
Balancing the desires and expectations of a diverse reader base is challenging, and while we can’t please everyone, we strive to make decisions that benefit the majority. As “DOMINION: Darkness Ascendant” nears its completion, I’m filled with excitement and gratitude for the journey ahead. I genuinely hope you understand the rationale behind this decision and continue your much appreciated support as always.
