When I wrote Unspeakable in 2015, I didn’t realise how deeply that house would bury itself — not just in the story, but in me. Kenning Hall has a way of keeping you. Even now, when I close my eyes, I can still hear the draught moving through the corridors, that cold breath that doesn’t belong to any season.
